NASS siege: What Goodluck Jonathan said about Buhari, APC government

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday reacted to the invasion of the National Assembly by men of the Department of State Services, DSS.

In his reaction, the Bayelsa-born politician reposted one of his quotes in 2015, which described the All Progressives Congress as a party with little or no regard for human rights.
The former President posted the message on his official Facebook page at the time the DSS laid siege to the National Assembly and prevented lawmakers of the opposition party, especially the PDP from going in.
DAILY POST reported yesterday that the DSS as early as 6:00 am, blocked all entry or exit from the National Assembly. The development was alleged to be part of the plot to effect a change of the Senate leadership.
Jonathan’s post read in part, “The choice before Nigerians in the coming election is simple: A choice between going forward and going backward; between the new ways and the old ways; between freedom and repression; between a record of visible achievements and beneficial reforms and desperate power seekers with empty promises.”
Followers of the former President reacted to the comment. While some hailed him for being a Democrat during his time in office, a few others berated and reminded him of how under his watch in 2014, members of the House of Representatives were barred from gaining entry into the green chamber during a failed attempt to remove the then Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal.
DAILY POST earlier reported that the incident led to the sack of the Director General of the DSS, Lawal Daura by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
