FOOTBALL:Chelsea Still Learning Sarri’s New Method – Barkley

Chelsea midfielder, who already looks like one of the players in new manager Maurizio Sarri’s good book, has spoken about the fitness status and tactical adaption of the squad at Stamford Bridge.

Following Sunday’s Community Shield loss, Barkley said the team are approaching the new season in good shape while he admitted that the players continue to develop on a daily basis under Sarri.
Chelsea’s final fixture of the pre-season campaign takes place against Lyon at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, before their opening Premier League game at Huddersfield on Saturday.
Barkley started yesterday’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City at Wembley, and he was pleased to complete the full match, despite the natural disappointment which comes with a bad result.
“It was good to get 90 minutes, I felt good out there,” said the Chelsea midfielder. “It wasn’t the result we wanted but we’ll keep working hard. We’re going into the season feeling much fitter and stronger after the pre-season we’ve had but it was a disappointing result.
“It would have been a confidence boost to get the win and go into the season feeling good, and with a trophy, but we’ve got to take the positives.
“We’re still learning, we’ve got a new manager and we’re still learning his methods. We’re trying to be an exciting attacking team so we have to take that forward into next week’s game and the season ahead.”
